PRODUCTION STUFF

Mars Magno has been in the works for a few years.  Initially I wrote him as an overnight reporter in a large futuristic city but he started to morph into something else-- and I may use that character as someone else-- I've since reworked Mars as an homage to the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon, the classic Dick Tracy comic strip by Chester Gould and a challenge to myself to attempt to do a page a week of this ongoing series.

Here are some designs from along the process:

Pencil Roughs for Mars in his ship.

Color tests including technique ideas, from limited color to limited color with shadow.

Mars' ship and the bigger mother ship which will make an appearance later on.

Early promo image-- featuring Mars and his two companions who'll be appearing later in the series.
